Dr Ameen Funsho Shuaib Ahmed

Dr Ameen Funsho Shuaib Ahmed was born in 1952 to the family of the late Mallam Shuaib Afunsho Ahmed and Alhaja Fatimoh Ahmed of Ile Babaelesin Anifowoshe Quarters, Pakata Area of Ilorin. He graduated from University of Ilorin in 1983 where he bagged his B.Ed. in Educational Planning and Administration. He went ahead with his M.Ed. Educational Management in 1986 and Ph.D. Educational Management in 1992 at the same University of Ilorin.

            Dr A.F.S. Ahmed joined Kwara State Civil Service in 1978 as a Teacher (AEO II) after his N.C.E course. He taught in various secondary schools for 14 years before he was posted to the Higher Education Directorate, Ministry of Education Headquarters as a Principal Education Officer (P.E.O) in 1992. While there, he represented the Ministry of Education Governing Councils of all the five State-Owned tertiary institutions then and the Federal Polytechnic Offa, at one time or another amongst other assignments. He later served as the Executive Secretary Kwara State Scholarship Board from November 1999 to December 2008 before he was returned to the Ministry of Education where he served as the Director Planning, Research and Statistics as well as the Director of Education Support Services (now Curriculum & Assessment). In his capacity as the Director, P.R.S, he anchored the state’s Education Reform Agenda tagged; “Every Child Counts” and was the main link between the Ministry and our Development Partners: Education Sector Support in Nigeria (ESSPIN) of DFID, British Council, the World Bank and the Federal Ministry of Education. This office provided him a lot of opportunities to attend Workshops, Seminars, and Retreats etc. both at home and abroad which has enriched his capabilities as an educationist. He retired from the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development in January 2012.


            An outstanding scholar and seasoned administrator, Dr A.F.S. Ahmed joined the Institute of Education, University of Ilorin as an Assistant Coordinator, in charge of Educational Management (Contact I-V) and other Minor Programmes. He is also serving as either the Chairman or member of many committees of the Institute. He is a Muslim and married with children.
